Spreadsheets as decision-support systems
The spreadsheet is a common tool in the modern office, but however it’s power and flexibility are really unappreciated. Much can be done to identify and exploit unique features not available in other platforms, and make them in the form more readily accessible to the user. It can be a tool of choice for use in developing decision-support systems and system ("proof-of-concept") prototypes.

End-user software engineering and computing
More and more computing power and user-friendly development environment are available to end-users for their daily work. However, the methodologies and tools for end-user software engineering are still very much lacking. This has resulted in errors in systems developed and the difficulties to retain and maintain such systems. The interest here is to develop the necessary concepts and methods to better support the end-user developer.

Applications of IT in Operations Management
A realistic look as what works and don’t in the application of information systems and technology for Operations Management, whether in manufacturing or services. The interest in the understanding what technology has to offer and where they can be appropriately applied, and how best to make use of available information to reduce cost and improve service performance.

Applications of IT in Supply Chain Management & Logistics
Supply Chain management expands on the foundation formed from the research work done in manufacturing and logistics. It differs from traditional logistics in that integration among external players is important and increasing focus on creating business value rather than cost management.

Conceptual design of Business Processes
Process research has been either in finding optimal solution to high-level monolithic conceptualizations (in operations management) or detailed business work processes design and evaluation (in information systems development). An interesting area of research, bridging these two extremes, is in looking at proper framing and decomposition of large real-world problems: hierarchical modeling of sub-problems with overlapping time horizons, linking constraints, feedback mechanisms, and incremental re-planning. This work is into finding and justifying good and efficient heuristics and their incorporation into actual operations systems.
