Announcements

 

1. Arrangement of the make-up class for the first week class

Due to unavoidable conflict, there is no class on the first week of the semester. Instead, the school has helped me to schedule a make-up class for it. Details are as follows.

Time:  8:30-11:45am on 28/08/2010 (Saturday).

Venue: SOE/SOSS Seminar Room 3-3 (Rm 3009)

 

2. Notes on the forthcoming mid-term exam on 13 October, 2010 (posted on 26 Sept, 2010)

(1)   The mid-term exam covers Topics 1-3. It is a closed-book exam, lasting 2 hours from noon to 2pm on 13 October, 2010 in SOE/SOSS seminar room 3-3.

(2)   No textbook, computer, or other electronic device is allowed during the exam. Nevertheless, you are allowed to bring a formula sheet of A4 size. You can type or write any class material on both sides of the paper. But you cannot share the formula sheet or anything else with your classmates during the exam.

(3)    A calculator is recommended. But you can also do the simple calculations on the provided scratch paper.

(4)   We are going to have 6 questions for the mid-term exam. They are all like typical questions in the homework assignments.

(5)   To help you prepare for the midterm, I will hold extra office hours from 5:00-6:00pm on 12 October, 2010. You can also email me to ask any questions you might have regarding the midterm.

3. Extra office hours from Week 11 on (posted on 19 Oct, 2010)

      Mondays, 1:30-3:00pm

The regular office hours, Wednesdays 9-11am, remain.

 

4. Notes on the forthcoming final exam on 25 November, 2010 (posted on 8 Nov, 2010)

(1) The final exam covers Topics 1, 3, 4, 5, and 9. It is a closed-book exam, lasting 2 hours from 5 to 7pm on 25 November, 2010 on Admin level 10.

(2) No textbook, computer, or other electronic device is allowed during the exam. Nevertheless, you are allowed to bring a formula sheet of A4 size. You can type or write any class material on both sides of the paper. But you cannot share the formula sheet or anything else with your classmates during the exam.

(3)  A calculator is recommended. But you can also do the simple calculations on the provided scratch paper.

(4) We are going to have 8-9 questions for the final exam. They are all like typical questions in the homework assignments and previous final.

(5)  I will be in my office from 9-11am on the morning of 24 November (Wednesday). Feel free to stop by during that time slot or make an appointment with me if you want to see me during other time slot. You can also email me to ask any questions you might have regarding the final.
