Jialie is a faculty member of the School of Information Systems at Singapore Management University, Singapore. He received his PhD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia in the area of large-scale information retrieval and database access methods. He worked as a lecturer at Sydney and researcher at Glasgow for a few years, before moving to SMU, Singapore.

Jialie's main research interests include information retrieval, multimedia systems, statistical machine learning. He is also keen to promote the effective use of information technology (particularly media analysis technology) in solving management chanlleges. The research statement includes a summary of my recent research and a tentative short/long-term plan.
