Professor Jae Kyu Lee

Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty & Research of School of Information Systems (SMU)

Jae Kyu Lee is the Dean of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) Business School and KAIST Graduate School of Management. He was formerly an Associate Dean of Faculty and Research of School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University. He was also a professor of Electronic Commerce and Management Information Systems and E-Commerce Technology & Applications at Singapore Management University. He is currently the director of International Center for Electronic Commerce (ICEC) and the editor-in-chief of Electronic Commerce Research and Applications (ECRA).

He received a B.A. from Seoul National University , a M.S. from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and a Ph.D. from the Wharton School , University of Pennsylvania . He was a visiting professor at the Department of Information Systems, City University of Hong Kong(2001), the Wharton School in the University of Pennsylvania (2000), University of Texas at Austin (1994), and Carnegie-Mellon University (1989).

He was the chair of the International Conference on Electronic Commerce ( ICEC 1998 , ICEC 2000 and , ICEC 2001 ), the 3rd World Congress on Expert Systems(1996), and many other key international conferences. He was the co-chairs of Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems 2001 and ICEC 2001. Also, he has supported and has taken part in lots of International Conferences as a member of committee.

He also took charge of a chairman of committee of Web Korea Forum and the chair of The Korea Society of Management Information System in 2004.

He has authored several books on Electronic Commerce including Electronic Commerce: A Managerial Prespective(Prentice Hall, co-authored with Efraim Turban), and published numerous papers in the leading journals such as Management Science, International Journal of Electronic Commerce , Decision Support Systems , Expert Systems with Applications, Decision Science and many others.

He received a number of academic awards including the best paper award in the Internet and Digital Economy at HICSS-30, 1997. These days, he is an editor of the leading international journals such as International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Electronic Markets, Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Application, Intelligent Systems in Finance Accounting and Management.

His current research areas are Architectures for B2B EC, Agent Based Commerce, eXtensible Rule Markup Language and Knowledge Management, and Intelligent Systems for EC tools.
