I am looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on adaptive information extraction. I am also looking for students interested in information extraction, text mining, information retrieval and/or machine learning to work with me.

Short Bio

I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Information Systems at the Singapore Management University. I received my PhD degree in 2008 from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, under the supervision of ChengXiang Zhai. Previously, I obtained my BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2002 and 2003, respectively.

Research Interests

My research interests center on text information management, including problems in natural language processing, information retrieval, and text mining, with a statistical machine learning approach. My research statement is here. My PhD dissertation was on "Domain Adaptation in Natural Language Processing" (pdf). I have written "A Literature Survey on Domain Adaptation of Statistical Classifiers" (pdf). A toolkit that implements some of the domain adaptation techniques I explored in my dissertation can be found here.
