Fangjian Fu is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Singapore Management University¡¯s Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He received his Bachelor¡¯s degree in Economics from Peking University (Beijing, China) in 1997, his Master¡¯s degree in Finance from National University of Singapore (Singapore) in 2001 and his Ph.D. degree in Finance from the University of Rochester (New York, USA) in 2007.
Professor Fu¡¯s research interests are in corporate finance and empirical asset pricing. His recent research focuses on capital structure, corporate investment and inefficiency, IPOs and SEOs, mergers and acquisitions, and the relation between idiosyncratic risk and return of individual stocks. He has published papers in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, and presented his research at numerous academic conferences including Western Finance Association (WFA), European Finance Association (EFA), Financial Management Association (FMA), Eastern Finance Association, and China International Conference on Finance (CICF) meetings. He won best paper awards at the 6th NTU IEFA international conference in 2008, the 16th SFM conference in 2008, and the Eastern Finance Association Meeting in 2006, and the NYSE student travel grant at the Western Finance Association Meeting in 2006. Professor Fu teaches corporate finance at Singapore Management University.
